Last minute – this invitation has just come into the Oban Concern for Palestine e-mail inbox:

OPEN INVITATION

CONVERSATION WITH GHADA AGEEL, author of
HARD LAWS & HARDER EXPERIENCES:  APARTHEID IN PALESTINE

Tonight!!! Friday 26 August 2016, 6:00pm

University of Glasgow, Boyd Orr Building, Room 407 (Lecture Theatre A)
University Avenue (nearest underground: Hillhead)

Dr Ageel will be talking with Pauline McNeill and engaging the issues of representing the many voices of Palestinians in publications that show the current situation from a number of Palestinian experiences in and outside of Palestine.  In this book those involved in the quest for Palestinian justice begin with life in Gaza and the West Bank.  They give accounts of ordinary activities under siege like looking after elderly parents or protecting youngsters.  Voices are woven together to give a unique picture of the crime that is Palestine now.

Noam Chomsky writes of Hard Laws and Harder Experiences:

Of all the crimes to which Palestinians have been subjected through a century of bitter tragedy, perhaps none are more cruel than the silencing of their voices.  The suffering has been most extreme, criminal, and grotesque in Gaza, where Ghada Ageel was one of the victims from childhood.  This collection of essays is a poignant cry for justice, far too long delayed. – NOAM CHOMSKY

The book Hard Laws and Harder Experiences is available at John Smiths at Glasgow University Book Shop at a special price of £25
