  1. S. Cameron says:

How lovely! I went to the Medical Aid for Palestinians coffee morning in Edinburgh this last Saturday (17th) and bought some of the beautiful crafts and Fair Trade olive oil that Hadeel had brought. For people new to the cause, if anyone hasn’t seen some of the dazzling and intricate Palestinian embroidery, imagine the background image of this blog, then times infinity. All handstitched by women’s cooperatives: often a woman would specialise in a particular motif and so the piece would be passed around a group of women, each putting something in. The wonderful Dr. Swee Chai Ang spoke at this MAP event – very moving and eye-opening and I’m very thankful that we have good people doing excellent work for the people of the region, no matter the challenging circumstances.

If I had time this weekend, I’d be up there like a shot. Hope you get the volunteers you need, it’s a VERY worthwhile cause.

  2. Thank you, S. Cameron, your comment is much appreciated. Enjoy the lovely hand-crafted objects and very yummy olive oil, so much more enjoyable for knowing where it all comes from and what hope – at least – it instills in the producers.
